About the Role
The Director of Architecture will lead the design, evolution, and execution of our technical architecture. This role will be critical in shaping the scalability, security, and resilience of our platform as we continue to expand. You will work closely with engineering, product, and security teams to ensure our technology stack aligns with business objectives and industry best practices.
Job Responsibilities
Strategic Architecture & Leadership
- Lead the architecture team to define and drive the technical vision, architecture, and roadmap to support ClassWallet’s growth and scalability.
- Collaborate with the board, C-level leadership, product teams, and engineering leaders to drive innovation and technical excellence.
- Lead enterprise architecture decisions, ensuring alignment with business goals and modern software best practices.
- Establish architecture governance and best practices for microservices, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and data management.
Technology & System Design
- Design scalable, high-availability, and secure distributed systems for fintech applications.
- Guide teams on microservices architecture, API design, and event-driven systems.
- Oversee data architecture strategy, including database optimization, data lakes, and compliance-related data management.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies, frameworks, and tools to improve efficiency, security, and scalability.
Engineering Excellence & Mentorship
- Mentor and develop a high-performing team of architects and senior engineers.
- Partner with engineering leaders to implement DevOps, CI/CD, observability, and cloud-native best practices.
- Establish coding standards, architectural patterns, and documentation practices across engineering teams.
- Advocate for technical debt reduction and long-term system sustainability.
Security & Compliance
- Work closely with compliance and security to ensure architectural decisions align with security best practices and fintech compliance standards (SOC 2, PCI DSS, etc.).
- Collaborate with security teams to implement secure-by-design principles across all development processes.
- Address performance, scalability, and data integrity concerns proactively.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Product, Engineering, Security, and Infrastructure teams to align technical solutions with business objectives.
- Partner with data and analytics teams to enable robust data pipelines and reporting capabilities.
- Engage with external stakeholders, vendors, and partners to integrate third-party technologies when necessary.
- 15+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Deep expertise in cloud-native architecture (AWS, Azure, or GCP), microservices, and API-first design.
- Strong background in fintech, SaaS, or high-transaction systems.
- Experience designing and scaling event-driven architectures, distributed systems, and real-time processing pipelines.
- Proficiency in modern backend technologies (Node.js, Java, Python, Go, etc.).
- Solid understanding of DevOps, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with data engineering, data lakes, and database performance tuning.
- Proven ability to drive cross-team collaboration and influence technical decisions at the executive level.
- Strong understanding of security best practices, compliance, and regulatory requirements in fintech or similar industries.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AI/ML architectures and large-scale data processing.
- Familiarity with digital payments or financial transaction processing.
- Prior experience scaling multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
