Overview

Mesh is looking for an Associate Counsel to join our dynamic team. In this position, you will be an integral part of the legal team and Mesh as a whole, supporting our day-to-day operations and hyper-growth. You will work closely with our Head of Legal and other key internal stakeholders to navigate the complex and evolving legal landscape of the crypto industry, ensuring Mesh remains compliant and secure while effectively managing legal risk as we expand our global reach.

Responsibilities

  • Support Mesh in complying with local and international regulations related to cryptocurrencies, blockchain, and the financial services industry (e.g., MiCA, AML/KYB/sanctions rules, regulations, and best practices, and global privacy laws).
  • Assist with the Company’s U.S. and international licensing and regulatory strategies, including obtaining and maintaining licenses in key jurisdictions (e.g., the E.U., United States, U.K., and other global crypto hubs)
  • Assist Head of Legal with drafting thought leadership pieces and participating in policy initiatives to benefit the crypto ecosystem while furthering Mesh’s strategic goals and product roadmap.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with high-value clients, partners, employees and contractors.
  • Assist with IP-related matters, including reviewing patent, trademark, and copyright filings.
  • Support the protection of proprietary technology and content, particularly as it relates to blockchain- and crypto-related intellectual property.
  • Provide general legal support across various departments (e.g., Sales, Product, Compliance, HR, and Finance).
  • Respond to legal inquiries and provide guidance on routine legal matters as they arise.
  • Assist with development, amendments, and implementation of Company-wide policies and procedures.
  • Keep up-to-date with trends and changes in crypto law, policy, financial services rules and regulations, data privacy, and other relevant areas.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the state bar association.
  • 2-3 years of experience at an AmLaw 100 law firm or in-house legal department, ideally with exposure to the cryptocurrency, blockchain, fintech, or tech industry.
  • Excellent understanding of blockchain technology, crypto assets, and the legal challenges associated with the crypto industry. We strongly prefer candidates
  • Familiarity with legal and regulatory frameworks related to crypto, including MiCA, U.S. financial regulations (e.g., the Bank Secrecy Act and MTL-related requirements), AML/KYB/CFT/sanctions compliance, emerging technology, and data privacy laws.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and build strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Ability to draft and negotiate contracts effectively.
  • Clear ownership mentality and ability to work efficiently.
  • Strong legal research and analytical skills.
  • Sound judgment and ability to make decisions in high-pressure situations.
