Engineering Manager (First Hire)

As the first Engineering Manager in our team, you will have the unique opportunity to shape our engineering culture and play a crucial role in scaling our product to new heights.

1) Team Building & Leadership:
- Hire, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment.
- Implement best practices for agile software development, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality code.
- Provide guidance and support to team members, proactively addressing challenges and promoting professional growth.
2) Technical Strategy & Roadmap:
- Collaborate with the founding team to define and execute the technical vision and strategy, aligning with the overall business goals.
- Evaluate and implement the right technology stack, infrastructure, and tools to ensure scalability, performance, and security.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, staying up-to-date with the latest trends and emerging technologies.
3) Project Management & Execution:
- Define, prioritize, and plan the engineering team's workload, ensuring timely delivery of projects and features.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, Design, Data, etc.) to ensure seamless integration and execution of the product roadmap.
- Establish and maintain clear lines of communication, providing regular updates to stakeholders on project progress, risks, and mitigations.
Quality Assurance & Risk Management:
- Oversee the development and maintenance of automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines to ensure high-quality, reliable releases.
- Develop and implement engineering best practices, including code reviews, documentation, and performance monitoring.
- Identify, analyze, and mitigate technical risks and bottlenecks, proactively addressing potential issues.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.5+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
- Proven track record of successfully building, leading, and scaling engineering teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong technical background with experience in React, Node.js, PostgreSQL, and AWS
- Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
- Experience with agile methodologies, CI/CD, and software development best practices.
- Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.Previous experience in a startup or Series A-funded company is a plus.
