Responsibilities:Team Leadership and Development:

• Lead and manage a team of software developers
• Foster a collaborative environment and provide mentorship and guidance
• Facilitate career development plans and conduct regular performance evaluations

Product Development and Delivery:

• Ensure product releases are on time, within scope, and on budget
• Understand and oversee the complete software development lifecycle (SDLC)
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and other stakeholders to define requirements and set priorities

Quality Assurance and Compliance:

• Develop and enforce quality assurance processes
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies
• Collaborate with QA teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality products

Strategic Planning and Execution:

• Work with leadership to align engineering strategy with company goals
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes as needed
• Assist in budget planning and manage resources effectively

Communication and Collaboration:

• Facilitate clear and concise communication within the engineering team and with other departments
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive project success

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in software development, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
• Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
• Experience with Git (Gitlab preferred)
• Proven track record of delivering projects on time and on budget
• Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and interpersonal skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in working with application databases (PostgreSQL preferred)

Even Better, But Not Required:

• Based in Birmingham or willing to relocate
• Experience with Ruby on Rails, Pivotal Tracker
• Ability to write tests in RSpec
• Familiarity with Python and Flask
• Experience in Microsoft Bot Framework
• Proficiency in AWS cloud services
• Familiarity with machine learning engineering
