Scrum Master
About the Role
This role tracks cross-team dependencies across all work streams. When a ticket is ownerless or stalled — particularly those touching booking flows, supplier integrations, or payment processing — this role steps in to assign a single accountable Directly Responsible Individual and document the resolution path.
Responsibilities
- Moves tickets proactively through QA, load validation, and Done — preventing sprint bloat that delays supplier inventory updates, booking feature releases, and payment flow improvements.
- Ensures 'Done' means available for downstream teams and guest-facing systems, not just dev-complete.
- Translates Jira and operational data into a clear leadership narrative covering health, risk, and velocity.
- Ensures developers do not begin work on tickets that lack clear requirements, dependencies, or sign-offs — particularly for supplier integration stories and new feature work that crosses multiple team boundaries.
- Consolidates decision trails from Slack and email into Jira so the team has a single source of truth.
- Audits team capacity across Core, AI, Philippines, and Supplier work streams to ensure no team is loaded beyond 80% of available bandwidth.
- Acts as the first point of contact for all inbound QA requests so the Lead QA Developer is not interrupted by ad-hoc asks.
- Routes defects, assigns triage priority, and ensures bugs that affect booking flows, payment processing, or supplier reliability are addressed within windows that protect the active sprint.
- Identifies when high-value engineers are stuck on manual or low-leverage tasks and facilitates handoffs to free their capacity for architecture and integration work.
- Attends bridge meetings between teams and PM, absorbing the coordination load so senior resources focus on delivery, not logistics.
- Owns the agenda, facilitation, and follow-through for all One Simplenight Engineering syncs — Core, Supplier, DevOps, QA Automation, Philippines team DSUs.
- Captures action items and ensures they close week over week.
- When a team cannot attend, the Scrum Master fills the information gap.
